Dear colleagues,

Following the recommendations of:

a series of scientific symposia dedicated to marine key habitats was organized by SPA/RAC since 2000. These events aim essentially to take stock of available scientific data and promote cooperation and exchange of experience among Mediterranean scientists and scientific institutions.

The 2019 edition of the "Mediterranean Symposia on Marine Key Habitats and Non-Indigenous Species" will offer an opportunity to discuss best practices in terms of monitoring of marine key habitats and non-indigenous species, define the Good Environmental Status (GES) in the Mediterranean, and provide elements to further improve the Integrated Monitoring and Assessment Programme (IMAP) of the Ecosystem Approach (EcAp) in the Mediterranean.

In a joint agreement with the Turkish Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, it was decided to organize the "Mediterranean Symposia on Marine Key Habitats and Non-Indigenous Species" in Antalya, from 14 to 18 January 2019, as follows:

The 6th Mediterranean Symposium on Marine Vegetation,
The 3rd Mediterranean Symposium on the Conservation of Coralligenous and other Bioconcretions,
The 2nd Mediterranean Symposium on the Conservation of Obscure Habitats, and
The 1st Mediterranean Symposium on Non-indigenous Species.

It is my great pleasure and honour to invite you to the Mediterranean Symposia on Marine Key Habitats and Non-Indigenous Species.

I look forward to welcoming you all in Antalya!

Best regards,

Khalil ATTIA
SPA/RAC Director
